Nuts Node v6 101
Nuts node v6 introduces a set of new features that reduce complexity, and better align Nuts with the international OpenID, OAuth2 and Self-Sovereign Identity standards and SSI developments in the European Union (EU ARF).
This book addresses these features and their impact from a v5 use case perspective.
Feature additions
Nuts node v6 brings a set of changes that provide improved functionality over already existing features. Note that existing functionality can still be used.
The main goals of the v6 feature additions are:
- Aligning with industry standards (OpenID4VP, DID methods) and EU initiates (ARF) for compatibility
- Improving operations by providing a web-based alternative to the gRPC network
These goals translate to the following added features:
- Support creating and resolving
did:webas alternative fordid:nuts - Addition of the "Discovery Service", an address book for use case participants, a safer, more flexible alternative to the gRPC network-based solution of publishing credentials as means of advertising care organizations.
- Support for OpenID4VP as standardized alternative to the Yivi/EmployeeID user authentication flow.
- Support for OpenID4VCI as standardized alternative for issuing credentials to the Nuts node wallet
